The “F” Factor
I got an opportunity to write this script for a skit to be performed at a youth meet in October’18 at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Pune. The theme of the event was centered on faith and hence, it was titled The “F” Factor.
(While strolling in the park, Mind and Heart bump into each other.)
Heart: Mind? How are you buddy?
Mind: (arrogantly) I am brilliant. What about you?
Heart: (calmly) I am happy!
Mind: I do not mean to offend you Heart, but do you remember that day, you claimed to be more powerful than me? And, that the world runs around the ridiculous emotions you produce? I think it is time you accept the truth. I am the most powerful organ, and you function only because I do. Heart: (laughs) You’re so innocent, Mind! People have mentioned me in poetry and grand prose, in sorrow and utter happiness; while I live in humanity, you live in boring science textbooks. (in a playful tone) And, just for the record, you too function only because I do. Mind: (slightly irritated now) Huhh! Look who's talking! If I were so powerless, why would you come to me broken and tattered every time someone betrayed you? Why do you say, if only I followed your advice, each time someone hurts you? Because even you know that, you cannot deal with your issues alone. I tell you what? Just pump blood, alright? That is your job. Do not get distracted. Heart: I am a multitasker, buddy.
Mind: No, you are stupid and illogical.
Heart: Of course, being logical brought you a long way, didn't it?
Mind: How would it? I get to suffer along with you. Because of your utter foolishness, you get into troubles, and drag me along with you. Have you ever put yourself above anyone else?
Heart: No, but that's what makes me the heart, doesn't it? I am selfless, and even when every fiber of my being hurts, I do what I got to do.
Mind: Do you even listen to yourself when you talk? Complication is your second name, Heart. Heart: Have you ever listened to the way you talk, my friend? This is nothing, but your big EGO talking. Just let it go. I don’t just pump blood, buddy. I and only I can make the human soul believe the one message given by Dada that we need is to make God real to ourselves in our daily lives. God is our constant companion. We should walk with God, we should talk to God. We should seek his advice, his guidance at every step, at every round of life.
As it is, you keep telling me that the one disease that is increasing all over the world is the disease of loneliness. Why? Because we’ve lost the F-factor and cut ourselves off from God.
Mind: Maybe, but I am the safer one. I am the last resort for everyone, okay? I make geniuses what they are. I pull people out of their problems, and I take their thoughts on a right path. Heart: But I have the F-factor that can transform geniuses as well. And my F-factor is stronger than your EGO, which is why I push them to seek your help too so their efforts can come alive with your intelligence. Come on buddy, don't you know that it was the F- factor that created geniuses WHO DID NOT GIVE UP!
Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he succeeded.
As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."
Albert Einstein did not speak until he was 4-years-old and did not read until he was seven. But, with the F-factor he did eventually learn to speak and read. Even to do a little math.
And not to forget, our Beloved Gurudev Sadhu Vaswani started the Mira Movement in Education with only one paisa in his pocket. He simply placed the F-factor in God’s bank balance that day and today it is no hidden secret how far, wide and deep the roots of this movement have grown to nurture young minds of our country.
Mind: Hold on! Hold on! What is this F-factor you’re talking about from so long?
Heart: You’re intelligent, no? Guess?
Let me give you a hint: The F-factor is hopeful, unlike you. You, and sometimes even I might upset people’s plans, but the F-factor is what makes God’s plans work for them.
Mind: (thinking, scratching his Mind) ummmm… Are you talking about Faith?
Heart: (teasing tone, smirking) Hehehe! See, I placed the F-factor in your intelligence and it worked. I'll give it you, Mind, you are amazing, yes, the F-factor is nothing but, Faith.
You know what Dada says? “Faith is seeing with the eyes of the heart.” So try to see with my eyes, at least sometimes if not always.
What say, want to try Faith with me?
Mind: (calms down) Oh stop manipulating me emotionally, you’re very good at that. You like playing these silly illogical games – Faith, Belief, Trust and all. Huhh!
Let’s try your F-factor but remember if it wasn’t for me, you would be lost in these so called ‘feelings’ of yours! I get so much done in life while you are caught up feeling the feeling of “Faith”.
HEART: (trying to calm the Mind) Mind, that’s the secret about Faith. A doubtful mind cannot have Faith. Faith has to be allowed to flow freely between you and me. That is how we will be able to work together. Please don’t obstruct the soul with your fear talk!
Dada says, obstacles are opportunities. So, don’t worry I will be right here to hold you. Whenever you will feel lost and try to obstruct the human life with Fear, with Dada’s grace I will step in to show opportunities to the soul with “our” F-factor.
(Heart holds Mind’s both hands, and asks the Mind to repeat the below line after him.)
Blessed is that heart where Dada lives. Come, say with me, Mind, “Dada, you are my Faith.”
MIND: “Dada, you are my Faith.”
HEART AND MIND TOGETHER: “Dada, you are my Faith.”
We’ve all been there and done that. Our mind and heart have battled it out like this on several occasions. However, that is the moment when you need to recall these reassuring words by the F-factor: Those who know me never doubt me and those who doubt me never knew me.
Doubt and faith both are states of the mind but blessed is the heart where Dada lives.
Dada J. P Vaswani is and will continue to be the eternal F-factor in many lives!
